You're Welcome Kinky!

Gubernatorial-candiate/humorist/author/man-of-the-people Kinky Friedman made a campaign stop at UTD yesterday. Fortunately, I received word a week prior about a private faculty/staff luncheon before the general public forum. Below are photos from the forum -- my meeting Kinky, Kinkly signing Roy's book, and other "Kinky moments".

Yes, yes, I'm 30 now

I turned the big 3-0 last weekend. Roy took me to the Cheesecake Factory in Plano, where we joined Vicki. It was a really nice birthdy -- good dinner, some shopping, then we watched "Thank You For Smoking", which is a really good movie. Below are some photos.

I finally meet my little cousin!

Beautiful! Just beautiful!

They let us out of work early today for Good Friday, so I took the opportunity to meet my newest little cousin.

Beautiful! Just beautiful!

Happy 1 Week Birthday!

Well, one week and a day. But anyway... Cristina sent me a few more pictures of Gabrielle, these at one week old. I couldn't decide which ones to post on the blog -- they're all just too darn beautiful, so I posted all of them. Click on any of the images below to see the entire set.

I'm hoping Roy and I get to see her this weekend. If so, I'll definitely have even more pictures of my beautiful little cousin.

Oh yeah ... Bono's coming to Dallas!

Good grief! As I glance through my posts for the past several weeks, I realize that I haven't even mentioned that Bono is coming to Dallas to speak at an event held by the Dallas World Affairs Council on May 5th at Fair Park Music Hall.

And yes ... You guessed it ...I HAVE A TICKET!!!

And not just any ticket:
- Section: Orch-B
- Row: U
- Seat: 11
- Click here for the seating chart

Even though I haven't yet mentioned it, I am excited beyond belief. And I have to say that Roy has been wonderful about this. I spent a bit more money on this ticket than I'd care to admit, and he's been great about it. I only had to promise not to eat out for lunch for the rest of the year. Well worth it, if you ask me.

Hey Dork! Happy Birthday!

Explanation: Teresa and I always greet each other with "Hey Dork" ... "Hey Nerd".

Today, Teresa turns 26. Wow! Well over a quarter of a century old now!!

Happy Birthday to you!
You belong in the zoo!
With the lions and the tigers...
And the monkeys like you!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ... Dork!

Congratulations Adrian & Cristina!

Gabrielle Simone Medina was born on April 5, 2006, at 4:05 (and 6 seconds, according to Adrian). Congratulations to the new Mom and Dad. I love you guys!

I don't have any photos of the baby yet, but I figured I'd post some wonderful pictures of the happy couple. Enjoy!

I'll post photos of the baby as soon as Adrian sends them! Promise!!

Relay For Life

On April 21st, I am going to participate in this year's Richardson Relay For Life. From 7pm to 7am, my team and I will take turns walking laps around the field in support of the American Cancer Society's fight against this disease that in some way has affected all of us. The event stretches through the night to symbolize how cancer never sleeps.

If you're in the area on the 21st, please stop by and join what promises to be a memorable night of fun ... and fundraising! Pizza ... games ... disco! Click here for event info.

If you can't make it (or even if you can), please consider contributing to my fundraiser. I passed my initial $100 goal -- thank you to *everyone* who contributed! -- and I've now upped my goal to $200. I'm only $70 away! Click here for donation information.

As always, I'll bring my camera with me to the event and post pics. Hope to see you there!! ~Kat

Call Center Movie

It has been way too long since my last post. I apologize already! Moving on...

I have this great Firefox extension called StumbleUpon, and Roy and I can easily waste an entire evening stumbling across random internet sites. Very fun. Recently, I stumbled onto the Call Center Movie, which is an incredibly funny short about an over-worked Indian man who single-handedly attempts to handle five different call centers. Tech support, airline reservations, emotional support lines -- you name it, he does it.

Watch and enjoy!
